ICB and McConnell Roofing have once again collaborated on the design, supply and installation of one of ICB’s single ply waterproofing systems– as part of a £45 million refurbishment package for Glasgow Housing Association (GHA), Scotland’s biggest social housing landlord, over 15,000 m² of alwitra Evalon V superior single ply membrane has been installed.
Working with McConnell and three main contractors; Wates, ISG and Mears, ICB has been supplying Evalon at multi-storey projects in Glasgow for many years. Ranging
from 54 to 66 metres in height, and exposed to strong winds, the tried and tested Evalon system has proved itself to be up to the job time and time again.
Previous successful installations for McConnell include projects for South Lanarkshire Council and Riverclyde Housing Association.
“The system is very adaptable and easy to use on different substrates and in different applications,” said Angus Tosh, Director at McConnell Roofing. “We
have been using Evalon for 20 years with no product issues, which gives great comfort to new customers and results in a good deal of repeat business.”
Whilst suitable for both New Build and Refurbishment, the single ply waterproofing membranes from ICB do have the advantage of being bitumen compatible, which means that they can simply overlay old failed asphalt or felt roofs with no need for stripping the existing substrate or inserting separation layers at additional expense.
These membranes are also compatible with most types of thermal insulation, so it was a simple matter to improve the thermal performance of the GHA’s properties as
part of the installed system.
“Our on-going success in Scotland with McConnell can be put down to correct specifications, high quality installations and trusted reputations,” said Craig Yates, Technical Sales Manager at ICB. “Obtaining repeat business and specifications for these projects, demonstrate the quality of our products and the high levels of customer service and technical back-up we provide.”
By helping to transform multi-storey residential premises as part of the £45 million refurbishment framework for GHA, ICB and McConnell Roofing have helped to improve building aesthetics, thermal performance and living conditions at thousands of homes across Glasgow.
