ICB Lights Up Nottingham Daycare Facility
A comprehensive range of products from roofing specialist ICB - including a huge array of 90 rooflights - have been installed at the Martin Jackaman Centre in Aspley. Supplied under a single point warranty, the ICB roofing system will ensure the facility for people with physical, sensory and learning disabilities remains watertight, thermally efficient and naturally lit for years to come.
Formerly the Aspley Wood Special School, the Martin Jackaman Centre opened in 2012 following a £900,000 refurbishment of the original building by Keepmoat Group. Featuring a hydrotherapy pool and two “changing places” toilets for people with disabilities, the project required additional works to bring the single storey building’s flat roof and rooflight system up to current building standards.
For client Nottingham City Homes, ICB offered the complete roofing solution. Installed by specialist contractor Raynor Ltd, the company supplied a waterproofing membrane, 90 rooflights and a fabricated fascia under a single point warranty, reducing the number of contacts and streamlining the process for the client.
Carefully spread out across the entire flat roof, the Evalite rooflights will allow high quality natural daylight to flood the building and provide a positive and comfortable internal environment. Exclusively available from ICB, the Evalite range comprises aluminium rooflights, canopies, smoke vents and emergency escape hatches.
2,000m2 of ICB’s Evalon V single ply waterproofing membrane was supplied, also previously installed by Raynor on a 60 bungalow refurbishment for the same client. Offering superior life cycle performance, British Board of Agrément (BBA) certification and a 20 year guarantee - Evalon V was a natural choice to ensure watertightness.
The Evalon V application was supported with the innovative use of Mariseal - a long lasting and liquid-applied waterproofing system. For a small section beneath a rooftop tank where Evalon V could not physically be applied, the liquid-application of Mariseal ensured a 100% watertight seal across the entire roof area. ICB completed the roof specification with a bird’s beak fascia, manufactured by ICB Fabrications, to be installed on the front elevation.
As a key part of the reorganisation of daycare services in Nottingham, the Martin Jackaman Centre and its stylish new roofing system from ICB will make a huge and lasting difference to people with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
